The goals of the Kyle Harty Strang Leadership Program and Trip to the Middle East are to: (1) Bridge gaps in knowledge about the conflict in the Middle East in a way that humanizes the problems and provides an understanding that is both nuanced and complete; (2) Build leadership skills among youth who will be the next generation to work toward peace in both the Middle East and our own communities.
Seeking Common Ground: Leading the Project
Seeking Common Ground is an international nonpartisan, non-profit organization based in Denver, Colorado. Their mission is to build peaceful communities worldwide—to connect and inspire young leaders, provide them with the skills to become agents for social change, and empower them to transform their communities. Their “people-to-people” programs offer individuals ways to communicate through conflict, transform antagonistic relationships into partnerships, and recognize within themselves the capacity to effect positive change personally, locally, and globally. They are best known for their flagship program, Building Bridges for Peace, which brings American, Israeli, and Palestinian teens together for peace-building and leadership development activities. s-c-g.org
